N11VA

I spent a couple months looking for planes. There are so many things to take into account: budget, mission, instrumentation, useful load, range, engine hours, cruise speed, the list goes on... I was hard at work scanning Trade-A-Plane and taking lessons when I followed N11VA in to land one day while in the pattern.

After a conversation with the owner on the tarmac, he mentioned the plane was for sale and the rest is history. I was very lucky to find such a capable and well cared for airplane locally!

Stats:

This particular 823 was manufactured by IAR (Industria Aeronautica Romania) in 1975 in Romania. The 823 was designed as a military trainer, and is capable of aerobatics. My particular bird tends to cruise around 145-150 knots, and burns 12-13gph when I am fully leaned out for cruise around 10-11k feet. The wings hold around 40 gallons each yielding an endurance of a little under 6 hours (I have never pushed past 5) and a no-reserve range a little less than 900 nautical miles.
